Julia Pierce Stokes, 90, died September 14, 2023, Merrit Hospital Madison. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 18, 2023, at Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland.
Mrs. Stokes was born on December 1, 1932, in Darling, Mississippi; the daughter of the late Guy Monroe Pierce and Zoner Idelle Stribling Pierce. She served her country in the USAF and was stationed at Hamilton Air Force Base in California. Mrs. Stokes worked as a clerk for 10 years with the Mississippi Highway Patrol
A member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church, she especially enjoyed her Sunday school class. Mrs. Stokes also enjoyed square dance, making pottery and gardening. Most of all, cherished spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren.
Survivors include son, Alan House and wife Marsha of Nesbit, MS; daughter, Debbie McCaskill, of Jackson, MS and daughter, Kathy Atkins and husband Jeff of Franklin, TN; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive her.
Along with her parents, Guy Monroe Pierce and Zoner Idelle Stribling Pierce, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Willard Stokes and her son-in-law, Joe McCaskill.
