Kay Carole Hood Adams was born October 10, 1944, to the late Warren and Elsie Hood in Vicksburg, MS. She lived in Jackson, MS, and graduated from Murrah High School before attending the University of Mississippi where she enrolled in Industrial Engineering. After college, she met Gerald Joe Adams and they married soon after.
Kay was committed to a life of service. Her captivating personality shone through in every aspect of her life. Not only a business owner, Kay was an avid philanthropist. From fundraising for the Jackson Zoo to volunteering with the Boy Scouts, her unique and vibrant character shone through. She was enthusiastic about cooking, interior design, storytelling, animals and hosting others in her home. Her fondest memories were her times spent at the family farm. She was often kept by her grandmother as a young girl as her parents grew their own business. She loved hearing about the stories dating back to the Civil War and hidden treasure. She always felt as though the farm was her home and the place she always wanted to go back to. She and her family often returned throughout her life to enjoy the peace and solitude. Hence, she will be laid to rest at Hood family cemetery.
She is survived by her husband Joe Adams, her children Shannon (Lee) Adams, Sean Adams, and Linden (Brad) Barefield, her grandchildren Will Adams, Ben Adams, Charlie Adams, Madison Barefield, Reagan Barefield, and Blaise Barefield, and her siblings Warren Hood Jr., Jimmy Hood and Peggy Louis.
Visitation will be Friday, June 9, from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. with services following directly after at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst, MS.
