WHO: The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT).
WHAT: Temporary road closure.
WHEN: Beginning at 12 a.m. on Thursday, June 1. The closure is expected to last up to 10 days.
WHERE: Both directions of U.S. 80 under I-20 at Exit 59 in Rankin County. During the temporary closure, I-20 eastbound traffic will be unaffected, while I-20 westbound traffic will remain passable via the exit and entrance ramp at the East Brandon exit (Exit 59).
WHY: Bridge preservation project.
HOW: For the 10-day closure period, all U.S. 80 traffic should seek an alternate route at the closure location. Motorists traveling westbound on I-20 should anticipate moderate delays for the duration of the closure as traffic will be diverted onto the exit and entrance ramps.
Drivers are reminded to slow down, avoid distractions and be on high alert for roadside workers during the closure. Stay updated on this work and get live travel information at MDOTtraffic.com, download the MDOT Traffic mobile app, and follow @MississippiDOT on Facebook and Twitter.
