Madison County Schools (MCS) has named Dr. Kim Brewer the next principal of Rosa Scott High.
Dr. Brewer will begin serving this summer when current principal Brent Cofield retires.
During her 26-year career in education, Brewer has served 12 years at the elementary school level and 14 years at the secondary level. In Madison County Schools she has worked as a teacher as well as the high school intervention strategist serving all MCS high schools including Rosa Scott.
Dr. Brewer has spent the past 11 years as the lead principal of Madison Avenue Upper Elementary, which has earned an A rating on state accountability testing throughout her tenure. Also an A-rated school, Rosa Scott School is home to all ninth graders in the Jaguar Zone.
“I’m excited about returning to Rosa Scott School to once again be a part of the excellent academic and extracurricular traditions,” says Brewer, “I look forward to serving the faculty, students, parents, and Jaguar community. Go Jaguars!”
“Dr. Brewer is a lifelong learner who has dedicated her career in education to serving the students of Madison County, and we are thrilled for her to bring her expertise and proven track record of leadership to the high school level at Rosa Scott School,” says Madison County Schools Superintendent Charlotte Seals.
From receiving the Rookie Teacher of the Year award early in her career to Madison County Schools Administrator of the Year in 2016, Dr. Brewer is committed to professional growth. She received bachelor’s and master’s degree in education from the University of West Florida. She earned her specialist degree and doctor of education degree from William Carey University.
Over the course of her career, she has served as a principal mentor for the Ole Miss Principal Corps, graduated from the Prospective Superintendent Leadership Academy, received the Distinguished Principal Award, served as a member of the State Superintendent of Education Principal Advisory Council, andcoordinated the mentor program for Madison County Schools’ National Board Certified Teachers.
She and her husband, Sean, have three children, Abney, Macey, and Hayden.
