The days of summer will soon come to a close as students in northeast Jackson and Madison County head back to school.
Students at the newest school in northeast Jackson will be the first in the local area to head to class for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Aug. 1 is the opening day for Revive Collegiate, an open-enrollment public charter school offering kindergarten and first grade for the 2022-2023 school year.
Revive Collegiate is located at 5301 Old Canton Road in the facility that was previously occupied by Trinity Presbyterian Church. RePublic Schools, which operates Revive Collegiate as well as three other nonprofit charter schools in Jackson and three schools in Nashville, purchased the facility last year.
Students who attend Madison County Schools will begin classes on Aug. 4. It will be a full school day for all students except some of the youngest ones.
Madison County kindergarteners are divided alphabetically so that half the kindergarteners will start school on Aug. 4 and the other half on Aug. 5.
“This schedule allows for teachers to really get to know these young students and help them settle in to ‘big school’ comfortably,” said Gene Wright, director of communications for Madison County Schools. All kindergarten students will attend a full day of school on Aug. 8.
For most local students, the week of Aug. 8-12 will be filled with meet the teacher events and orientation as well as the first day of school.
At Madison-Ridgeland Academy, parents of sixth graders will meet for orientation on Aug 1 at 6 p.m. in the dining commons.
Orientation for new MRA students in grades 6-12 is set for Aug. 4 in the gym, with grades 6-8 scheduled from 8:30-9:30 a.m.; grades 10-12 orientation from 11 a.m. until noon; and ninth grade from1:30-2:30 p.m.
MRA kindergarten and elementary students will meet their teachers on Aug. 8. On Aug. 8, MRA students in grades 9-12 will have orientation from 8:15-10:45 a.m. and students in grades 6-8 will have orientation from noon until 2:30 p.m.
Aug. 9 will be the first full day of school for all students at MRA. Meet the Patriots is scheduled that night at 6 p.m. in the football stadium.
Back to School Night for the elementary grades at MRA is scheduled on Aug. 15 at 6 p.m. in the gym; high school, Aug. 16 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the gym; kindergarten, Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. in the kindergarten building; middle school, Aug. 17 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the gym.
Receptions for new students at Jackson Academy are scheduled on Aug. 8 and meet-the-teacher events for K3 through fourth grade are scheduled on Aug. 9.
Aug. 10 is the first day of school for JA Upper School students, who will meet from 8:30-11:45 a.m. The first full day of school for JA students in K3 through the twelfth grade will be Aug. 11.
A Blue and White Night, the JA back-to-school event, is planned for Aug. 13.
Jackson Prep will distribute books on Aug. 8 and students will return for the first day of class on Aug. 10.
First Presbyterian Day School will open its uniform swap shop on Aug. 2 and 3 so parents can prepare for school.
Students and their parents in K3 through sixth grade at First Presbyterian will have the opportunity to meet their teachers on Aug. 9. Students and parents will attend during a specific time slot that they will receive information about.
Aug. 10 will be the first day of class for students who attend First Presbyterian Day School. It will be a full day with lunch and after-school programs.
Sixth-grade orientation is scheduled on Aug. 10 at 8 a.m. for First Presbyterian Day School students and parents.
First Presbyterian Day School has scheduled Back to School Night for K3 through sixth grade on Aug. 18 at 5:30 p.m. The event is for parents only.
St. Richard Catholic School placed its Back-to-School event on the calendar for Aug. 4 from 5-7 p.m. The first day of school will be Aug. 8.
Aug. 8 is the first day for students at St. Anthony Catholic School in Madison and at St. Joseph Catholic School in Madison.
Students in Jackson Public Schools will have their first day of class on Aug. 8. The schedule for Back to School Nights at various schools and division has not been released yet.
Christ Covenant Presbyterian School students will have their first day of class on Aug. 9. Back to School Night will be Aug. 25.
St. Andrew’s Episcopal School will begin the 2022-23 academic year with a Meet the Teacher Day for Lower School students and orientation for all new Middle and Upper School students on Aug. 15. Regular classes for Pre-K3 through twelfth graders begin Aug.16. Foundations students, infants to two-year-olds, kicked off its year on July 7.
