The University of Mississippi is the most popular choice for higher education for the 2023 graduates of nine high schools in Jackson, Madison, Ridgeland and Gluckstadt.
Two hundred seventy-four students indicated to their high schools that they plan to attend the University of Mississippi; 237 students indicated they plan to attend Mississippi State University; and 113 students, the University of Southern Mississippi.
Holmes Community College is also a popular community college choice with 177 students from the local area indicating they plan to attend classes there. One hundred thirteen students named Hinds Community College as their choice.
Eighty-nine graduates indicated their choices are colleges and universities in the metro area. Sixty-one local graduates plan to attend Jackson State University; 52, Mississippi College; 11, Tougaloo College; 10, Belhaven University; and eight, Millsaps College.
Two local graduates have earned entrance into the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York, one in the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and one in the U.S. Naval Academy Prep School. Twenty-eight students plan to join the military.
The northeast Jackson and south Madison County area will be represented at many colleges and universities across the U.S., including elite institutions such as Harvard University, Georgetown University, the University of Notre Dame, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Virginia.
Germantown High School’s Class of 2023 has 80 graduates who plan to attend Holmes Community College; 50, Mississippi State University; 33, the University of Mississippi; 22, the University of Southern Mississippi; 18, Hinds Community College, 12, Mississippi College; 13, Jackson State University; five, Jones College; and six, Millsaps College.
Two Germantown graduates each will attend Belhaven University, Copiah-Lincoln Community College, East Central Community College, East Mississippi Community College, Meridian Community College, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Northwest Community College and Pearl River Community College.
One Germantown graduate plans to attend each of these: Delta State University, Southwest Community College, Boston College, Catawba College, Elon University, Florida International University, Furman University, George Mason University, Hampden-Sydney College, Louisiana College, Morehouse College, North Central Texas, Palm Beach State University, Rice University, Southern University and A&M College, Tuskegee University, Western State University, Xavier University of Louisiana.
Six members of the Germantown Class of 2023 plan to go into the military; four to trade school; four to work. Four members of the class are undecided about their future pursuits.
Jackson Academy’s Class of 2023 will have 36 members attending the University of Mississippi; 21, Mississippi State University; five, the University of Alabama; and three each at the University of Southern Mississippi, Mississippi College and Holmes Community College; and two each at Louisiana State University and Holmes Community College.
JA will be represented by a graduate at each of these institutions: Samford University, Dallas Baptist University, Furman University, the University of Kentucky, Georgia Southern University, Texas Christian University, Penn State University, Auburn University, Wofford College and Pearl River Community College.
The Class of 2023 at Jackson Prep will have 50 members attend the University of Mississippi and 31 members attend Mississippi State. Four members will be at Mississippi College; three, the University of Alabama; and two each, Auburn University, Hinds Community College and Texas A&M University.
Jackson Prep will be represented by a single student at each of these institutions: Baylor University, Bocconi College, California Polytechnic University-San Luis Obispo, the College of Charleston, Furman University, High Point University, Itawamba Community College, Jones College, Louisiana State University, Meridian Community College, Middle Tennessee State University, Pace University, Rhodes College, Sam Ford University, Southeastern University, the University of California Los Angeles, the University of Central Florida, the University of South Alabama, the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Chattanooga.
One member of Jackson Prep’s class will attend the United States Military Academy.
Madison Central High School will have 82 of its most recent graduates attend the University of Mississippi; 49, Mississippi State University; 42, University of Southern Mississippi; 38, Holmes Community College; and 27, Hinds Community College.
Fourteen Madison Central graduates plan to attend Jackson State University; 14, Mississippi College; East Mississippi Community College, 10; the University of Alabama, seven; Jones College, five; the NCAA Eligibility Center, four; Northwest Mississippi Community College, four; the University of Alabama at Birmingham, four; Alcorn State University, three; Bryan College, three; Spelman College, three; University of California at San Diego, three; and University of Texas at Dallas, three.

Madison-Ridgeland Academy Class of 2023 graduates will attend Mississippi State University, 41; University of Mississippi, 24; Mississippi College, four; Holmes Community College, two; and Northwest Mississippi Community College, two.
One student each from MRA plans to enroll at Baylor University, Hinds Community College, Louisiana State University, Millsaps College, Mississippi Valley State University, Pearl River Community College, Samford University, Southern Methodist University, Southwest Mississippi Community College, University of Colorado-Boulder, University of Kentucky, University of North Florida, University of Southern Mississippi and William Carey University.
MRA will be represented by one graduate each at the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy and United States Naval Academy Prep School.
Murrah High School Class of 2023 will be represented at both in-state and out-of-state colleges and universities, at community colleges and in the military. Two hundred of the 322 graduating seniors provided the information requested by May 25.

Ridgeland High School recent graduates also plan to attend Delta Technical, 13; Mississippi State University, 15; University of Mississippi, 12; Jackson State University, nine; Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, four; Meridian Community College, two; Mississippi Delta Community College, two; Grambling University, two; and Spelman College, two.

One student will attend the United States Military Academy and one student plans to join the U.S. Army. Three graduates at St Joe are undecided about their pursuits after high school and one plans to take a gap year.
