LeFleur’s Bluff State Park is among eight state parks in Mississippi to offer fully outfitted glamping campsites.
Six campsites at the park are outfitted by Tentrr with safari-style tents elevated on a wooden platform, a fire pit, camp table and benches, Adirondack chairs, a heater and a grill top for the fire pit.
The tents include a bed with a memory foam mattress and mattress protector.
A single tent can accommodate up to six individuals or a double tent site can accommodate up to 12 individuals. Each site includes a four-person pop-up tent to house any extra guests
“The sites have been really popular,” said Jennifer Shows, social media manager for the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.
“All you need to bring is your bedding, your food, kitchenware, firewood for the grill and your personal belongings.”
Tentrr funds 100 percent of the build of its campsites, employs local residents to operate them and part of the proceeds from the campers that use them goes back to the state.
An outfitted site provides a way for someone to give camping a try without investing in a tent, she said.
“You can just reserve one of the sites and then drive up to one of the tents that’s already there and that night sleep on a fluffy mattress,” she said.
Some of the sites are double sites, meaning there are two of the tents in proximity. “If you have a big group and you want to come and camp, you can reserve a double site and be close together,” she said.
Depending upon what time a camper arrives, a tent guide may there to lead the way to the reserved site.
Tentrr’s outfitted campsites are also found at Percy Quinn State Park, Tishomingo State Park, Buccaneer State Park, J.P. Coleman State Park, Clarkco State Park, Roosevelt State Park and Wall Doxey State Park. A total of 56 outfitted campsites are available at the parks.
Shows said more than 100 reservations have been made statewide for the outfitted campsites since early January.
Tentrr and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks selected sites based on privacy and seclusion, access to amenities, and land features.
The fee for an outfitted campsite starts at $75 per night. To make a reservation, visit www.mdwfp.com/parks-destinations or go to www.tentrr.com. Reservations may be made up to six months in advance.
