I have always loved my name. My parents gave me my name, Jennifer Joy Bird. My middle name is after my mother, Gloria Joy. Anyone who knows my mom knows she lives up to her name. She is the most positive, thoughtful, and unselfish person that I know. When I was thinking of a name for my business, my dad let me know that God gave him the name, JoyCARE.
Conrad Bird, my dad, has so much wisdom. Although his middle name is not Joy, it certainly could be. I loved the name JoyCARE from the moment I heard it. I am thankful and proud of my name mostly because of who gave it to me. This article is a bit different than most of my articles. Rather than me telling you about my service and what it means, I decided to give that opportunity to a couple of individuals who have experienced JoyCARE firsthand. What’s in a name? Please continue reading to find out….

Naming is one of the most important privileges we have. We think long and hard about what we name our children, our pets, sometimes even our homes. Always hoping to capture the essence of the object of our naming.
JoyCARE is one of the most appropriate names that could possibly have been chosen for a remarkable team of highly qualified therapists who focus their energies on our rapidly growing geriatric population.
My husband and I are a part of that group, my husband having multiple health issues, not the least being Parkinson’s. When our healthcare support stopped, we hoped to find a source to continue the care he had been receiving.
JoyCARE was highly recommended by our previous therapy service. We wasted no time in calling to find out more. Within a day we met the Executive Director herself, Jennifer Joy Bird.
We have been receiving JoyCARE, Inc. services since February to address safe technique and improved gait pattern during ambulation with his rollator, general strengthening, and endurance training, and always balance issues.
The manner of our trainer, her kindness, adaptability to schedule changes due to doctor’s appointments makes our relationship stress-free. She seems to be concerned with his whole person and offers support and encouragement. Needless to say, he looks forward to her visits and feels that she really cares about him. We are immensely grateful for JoyCARE and the joy these young women have brought into our lives.

There is not a better way to describe our experience with the JoyCARE team than with the word “joyful.” Jennifer and Clemmie are so wonderful in engaging our mom to be active both mentally and physically. Their care has had a very positive impact on our mom’s outlook and overall health and well-being. They are creative in their approach and have gotten to know our mom’s interests as well as her extended family. JoyCARE brings joy to our mom.
I am so thankful for the clients and the families that we know and love. It is such a privilege to be able to help care for others. Maybe you know a senior adult who has lost their spark. Maybe you know a family member, a neighbor, or a friend who could benefit from some encouragement and exercise. Maybe you know someone who is having more difficulty performing the daily tasks of life. If this sounds familiar, please give JoyCARE, Inc. a call at 601-573-6344 and see what we can do for you. JoyCARE’s primary goal is to help improve the quality of life of those we serve. Our staff is made up of trained and experienced professionals who focus on the physical, mental, and emotional health of those we serve.
As we approach the Thanksgiving season, I am thankful that many years ago I was able to graduate from The University of MS Medical Center with a degree in Occupational Therapy. Since that time, I gained valuable experience while working at Methodist Rehabilitation Center as an Occupational Therapist treating a variety of diagnoses. Following my time at MRC, I worked as a Director of Rehab at an assisted living facility. My education and experience enabled me to begin my own business, JoyCARE, Inc.
God has opened doors along my journey, and this has allowed me to meet some of the kindest, smartest, funniest, strongest, and most encouraging individuals and their families. As one of my therapists recently shared with our team, “My clients bring me so much joy.” That is the way God works. He uses others in our lives to help us, to guide us, to encourage us, and to love and cheer us on. There comes a time in all our lives when we need a little help. If there is someone special in your life who could use some help physically, emotionally, or cognitively, give a service named JoyCARE a call.
So, what is in a name? A lot. In fact, in the Bible it says, A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. Proverbs 22:1.
