Not one but two parking garages could be constructed in Jackson in the coming months.
Belhaven University filed a site plan with the city of Jackson on Nov. 17 for a parking garage that would be built on campus, said Jordan Rae Hillman, director of planning for the city of Jackson.
The plan for the garage will be on the agenda for the Site Plan Review meeting on Dec. 2, she said.
Tentative plans call for a parking garage to be built in Fondren where a $13-million project is nearing completion. The project is bringing to life an entertainment venue that will return the Capri to its life as a movie theater, transform the former paint store into a restaurant with a full-service bar plus a 10-lane bowling alley and turn the former gallery into a tiki bar.
Nothing has been formally submitted to the city of Jackson about the parking garage behind the entertainment venue, Hillman said.
