Caroline Bearden of Hoover, Ala. and Matthew Stuart of Madison were married on Saturday, March 6 at 5 p.m. The bride is the daughter of Jeremy and Kelley Bearden of Hoover. She is the granddaughter of Carolyn Cox and the late William Cox, both of Birmingham, and Ron and Carol Bearden of Memphis. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stuart and the grandson of Carolyn Graves, all of Madison.
The ceremony was held at the bride’s home church, Shades Crest Baptist Church in the Bluff Park community of Hoover where the bride’s parents, aunts, and uncles were also married. The Reverend Denis Tanner, and The Reverend John Windham officiated.
Mary Cooper Bearden served as her sister’s maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Margaret Dwyer, Mary Ingalls Dwyer, and Madelyn Stocks, all of Hoover, Emily Stocks Smith of Auburn, Sarah Beth Stocks of Nashville, Mary Webb Ballou of Bailey, Taylor Fikes of Tupelo, Sarah King Tudor of Charlotte, N.C., Anna Mckell of Starkville, Lauren Parker of Hattiesburg, Ann Morgan Sowell Spindler of Nashville, Elizabeth Amilfatano and Madalyn Ramey, both of Memphis. The flower girl was Louvie Windham, the daughter of the Reverend John and Molly Windham of Corinth.
The bridegroom’s father was best man. Groomsmen included the bride’s brother, Reid Bearden of Hoover, Ben Brainerd, Nathan Burch, both of Huntsville, Jacob Herring of Purvis, Trent Marable of Franklin, Tenn. Matthew Slavic of Memphis, Jonathan Cimino of Decatur, Ala., Larson Woodal.
Matthew Faulkner, Jonah Gandy, Luke Strong, all of Madison, Eli Laird of Austin, Jay Newman of Ridgeland, and Jeffrey Rucker of Metairie.
The bride wore a strapless gown of lace in candlelight with a rhinestone belt and a cathedral length train. The veil, also cathedral length, was embellished with lace. The bridesmaids wore soft green with a chiffon overlay and pearl earrings. The groomsmen wore gray suits with suspenders and soft green bow ties. The flower girl wore an heirloom float dress in white and ecru with lace and ribbon inserts.
The music for the ceremony was presented by pianist, Brenda Odom of Birmingham and soloist, Lara Guin of Hoover.
The reception was held in the Shades Crest Baptist Church fellowship hall. The bride’s cake was vanilla with almond frosting. The topper was a bridal couple figurine bride’s maternal grandparents and parent’s wedding. The bridegroom’s table was decorated in a Mississippi State theme with various flavors of pound cakes. Pound cakes were given by family and friends. Wedding favors were cowbells and “game day” stickers. The church’s courtyard was decorated with lights for overflow seating. Guests sent the couple off to the ringing of cowbells and sparklers. They departed the church in a chauffeured 1952 Buick Eight Special Deluxe vintage automobile, on the way to the Renaissance Spa and Resort in Ross Bridge in Hoover for the evening. The following morning, they flew to Colorado, where they spent the week skiing.
A bridesmaid’s brunch was held March 5 at The Club in Birmingham hosted by Zoe Dwyer, Elizabeth Stocks, Carolyn Thomley and Cathy Bearden. That evening, Mr. and Mrs. Stuart hosted a dinner for family, friends, and the wedding party at Park Crest in Hoover.
The couple have made their home in Memphis. The bridegroom is an engineer at Hunter Fans and bride is an engineer for Fed Ex.
