Tracy Smith Byrd and Lance Merkel Davis announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica McKenzie Davis, to Robert George Wasson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Robert Wasson of Madison.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Clark Davis of Tuscaloosa, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Bobby DeWayne Smith of Brandon.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. George Malcolm Rawls of Columbia and Mrs. Billie Eugene Wasson of Kosciusko and the late Mr. Wasson.
Miss Davis was graduated from Jackson Preparatory School in 2017. She attended Mississippi State University and was graduated summa cum laude from the Shackouls Honors College in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. While at MSU, she was a member of Chi Omega fraternity, Phi Beta Kappa honor society, and the Shackouls Honors Council where she served as vice chair. Miss Davis completed an internship with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi in the Actuarial Services Department where she plans to begin her career as an actuary.
Wasson is a 2017 graduate of Jackson Preparatory School. He was graduated summa cum laude from the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College at the University of Mississippi in 2021, where he received his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. At Ole Miss, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame and served as president of the engineering student body. Wasson will attend the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in the fall.
The couple will exchange wedding vows on June 19 at First Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow at the Railroad District.
