Mr. and Mrs. James Randal Shell announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathryn Janeanna Shell, to Landon Hurston Heath, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Steven Heath of Athens, Ga.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Edward Earl Lawler Sr. and the late Mr. Lawler, and Mrs. John Robert Shell and the late Dr. Shell, all of Madison.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mrs. William Elbert Heath and the late Mr. Heath of Gray, Ga., and the late James Franklin McDaniel and the late Johnnie Sue Hurston Tyler of Thomaston, Ga.
Dr. Shell was graduated Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in biological Science. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority where she served as rush chairman her junior year. She was a Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College graduate. She attended the University of Mississippi Medical Center where she received her doctor of medicine and was a member of the Gold Humanism Honors Society. She completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and was selected as Chief Resident after graduation. She is now board certified in pediatrics and is a pediatric hospitalist and assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Children’s of Mississippi.
Heath was graduated from Athens Academy and the University of Mississippi, where he received a bachelor’s degree in journalism. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity while in college. He then received his master’s in sports marketing from Georgia State University. He is now a marketing professional with Zaxby’s Incorporated in Athens, Ga.
The couple will exchange vows May 22 at The Jefferson in Oxford, with a reception immediately following. They will make their home in Athens, Ga.
