Former Jackson Mayor Dale Danks Jr. died on June 9 from complications due to a stroke.
He was elected as mayor of Jackson in 1977 and served three terms.
He is a founding member of Danks, Miller & Cory, where his practice focused primarily on general, civil and white-collar criminal litigation. He also served by appointment as municipal judge for the city of Madison. Danks was elected for two terms as Hinds County prosecutor.
Danks completed his undergraduate training at Millsaps College and graduated from the Jackson School of Law.
He served on many boards, committees, commissions and associations including the Mississippi Municipal Association of which he was president, the Energy and Transportation Committee, the National League of Cities, the Housing and Economic Development Committee, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, the State Fair Commission and the Jackson Chamber of Commerce.
