Sally Crosby Martin and John David Parkerson were married on October 19 at six o’clock in the evening at Saint James’ Episcopal Church in Jackson. The ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Andy Andrews.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Cecil Martin of Jackson. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Neilson Martin of Starkville and the late Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Hopkins Levings of Jackson.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bailey Parkerson III of Birmingham. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bailey Parkerson Jr. of Nashville and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Wesley Shores Jr. of Birmingham.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a wedding gown featuring ivory petal-embroidered tulle over sparkling net and Chantilly lace, with a strapless sweetheart neckline, sheer corset bodice, natural waist, trumpet skirt, and chapel train, complemented by a detachable shimmer tulle overskirt adorned with petal appliqués and a front closure.
The bride carried a bouquet consisting of an all white teardrop cascade of gardenias, dendrobium orchids, hydrangeas, stock, and roses made in a similar style to the bouquet the mother of the bride carried at her own wedding. Bridesmaids carried similar but smaller bouquets using hydrangeas, stock, roses and wax flowers.
The bride’s sister-in-law, Elizabeth Baird Martin, was her matron of honor. Bridesmaids included Savanna Broussard, Katie Victoria Eckart, Molly Milner Hamilton, Catherine Sullivan Joyner, Anna Katherine Malouf, August Clair Malouf, Ann Granville Maxey, Madeline Minor and Ashlan Laura Parkerson.
The bridegroom’s brother, Edward Bailey Parkerson IV served as best man. Groomsmen included Logan Charles Crook, Matthew Elio Diaz, Heath Monroe Hudson, Shawn Patrick Kestler Jr., Lawrence Lee Martin, Jeffrey Michael Moore Jr., Edward William Payne Jr., Zachary Allen Phipps and Drew Keith Snyder.
Altar floral arrangements at the church were all white consisting of snap dragons, stock, hydrangeas, roses, wax flowers and dendrobium orchids. Nuptial music was presented by Michael Beattie, organist, and violinists.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the County Club of Jackson which was decorated with all white assortments of snap dragons, stock, hydrangeas, roses, wax flowers, dendrobium orchids and gardenias. Guests danced to the local band, Compozitionz.
The couple shared their first dance to Mack Gordon and Harry Warren’s At Last, Etta James version. The bride and her father danced to Irving Gordon’s Unforgettable, Natalie Cole and Nat King Cole version followed by the bridegroom and his mother dancing to Stevie Wonder’s You Are the Sunshine of My Life.
A buffet dinner was offered to the guests. The bride’s wedding cake was a four tier traditional vanilla cake with buttercream icing and embellished with fresh flowers. The bridegroom’s cake was a classic yellow cake with chocolate icing with a guitar cake topper and chocolate music notes.
The newlyweds exited the reception with their guests lined along the sidewalk waiving lighted glowing sparklers. On the day before the wedding, the bride’s family hosted a bridesmaid lunch at Caet Restaurant in Ridgeland. On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom’s parents hosted a seated rehearsal dinner at River Hills Club. A wedding day brunch for the wedding party and the out of town guests was hosted by friends of the bride’s family and was held at the home of Tommy and Elise Williams in Ridgeland. Following their wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple will be at home in Nashville where the bride is the operations manager of H.E. Parmer Company and the bridegroom is the eCommerce sales manager with Electronics Express.
