Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Wesley Goings III of Jackson announce the engagement of their daughter, Meredith Lee Goings, to John Grady Burnett of Nashville. The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Crowell Burnett Jr. of Jackson.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hiram Creekmore of Jackson and Hubert Wesley Goings Jr. and the late Mrs. Goings of Birmingham. Burnett is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dewitt Mayfield of Kountze, Texas. His paternal grandparents are Margaret Ann Burnett and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Crowell Burnett of Memphis.
Miss Goings is a 2017 graduate of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School. She graduated magna cum laude from Wofford College in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish. At Wofford, she was an active member of Kappa Delta sorority and was presented by the Debutante Club of Mississippi in 2018. Miss Goings received her Master of Education from Vanderbilt University in 2022. She is currently a teacher at Harding Academy in Nashville.
Burnett is a 2014 graduate of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School. He graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management. At Ole Miss, he was active in Phi Delta Theta fraternity. In 2020, Burnett received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Mississippi. He is currently associated with C Spire in Nashville.
The couple will exchange vows on July 25 at Church of the Incarnation in Highlands, N.C. After the wedding, they will make their home in Nashville.
