Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Talmadge Guest of Madison announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Bratton Guest, to John William (Liam) Thornton V, son of Mr. and Mrs. John William Thornton IV of Augusta, Ga.
Miss Guest is the granddaughter of Anne Clements and the late Billy Clements of Flowood, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Edward Guest of Canton.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. John William Thornton III and the late Billie Vaughn, Albert Francis Moody Jr. and the late Mary Moody.
The bride-elect is a 2021 graduate of Madison Ridgeland Academy. She attended the University of Mississippi and graduated in 2024. She then attended nursing school in the one year accelerated program at UMMC in Oxford and graduated in 2025. She is currently a registered nurse working in the ICU in Fredericksburg, Va.
Thornton graduated from Richmond Academy in 2021. He attended the University of Mississippi and graduated in 2025. Thornton completed Officer Candidate School and is a Second Lieutenant serving in the United States Marine Corps in Quantico, Va.
The couple will exchange wedding vows December 31 at St. Columb’s Episcopal Church with a reception to follow at the Country Club of Jackson.
