Mr. and Mrs. David Lewis of Aliceville, Ala. announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Kathryn Lewis, to William Carey Buffington, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Phillip Buffington Jr. of Canton.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe B. Lewis of Aliceville, and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Kendall of Selma. The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Dr. Richard Yelverton and the late Sally Yelverton of Jackson and Gwin Buffington of Canton and the late Charles Phillip Buffington.
Miss Lewis is a 2018 graduate of Pickens Academy. She attended the University of Alabama where she received a bachelor’s degree in educaiton and in 2025, a master’s of clinical mental health counseling. At Alabama, she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She is currently a National Certified Counselor (NCC ) at Down to Earth Counseling in Tuscaloosa.
Buffington is a 2018 graduate of Saint Andrew’s Episcopal School. In 2022, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and political science from the University of Mississippi. During his time at Ole Miss, he was an active member of Kappa Alpha. He is currently an accountant with Interior Elements in Birmingham.
The couple will exchange vows on June 14 at Aliceville First Baptist Church with a reception to follow at the Lewis residence.
