Mr. and Mrs. William Lamson Painter of Jackson announce the engagement of their daughter, Ivy Elizabeth Painter, to Tolar Wood Purvis of Ridgeland.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Leo Marler of Fairhope and the late Diana Smith Marler, of Gautier, and Mr. and Mrs. John Samuel Painter of Beaver, Utah.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paige Lynwood Purvis of Ridgeland. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Don Lynwood Purvis of Jackson, Judy Graham Wood of Meridian, and the late Dr. Eugene Gregory Wood and Carolyn Harpole Wood, both of Jackson.
Miss Painter is a 2014 graduate of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School. She graduated from the Harrison Honors Program at Birmingham-Southern College in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a minor in psychology. While at Birmingham-Southern, she was an active member of Kappa Delta sorority, and a four-year member of the women’s soccer team. She graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2022. She is currently an associate attorney at Daniel Coker Law Firm.
Purvis is a 2015 graduate of Jackson Preparatory School. He attended Mississippi State University and graduated magna cum laude in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in finance and a concentration in risk management and insurance. While at MSU, he was an active member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2022. Purvis is currently a partner at Purvis Law Firm.
The couple will exchange vows on March 9 at Paris-Yates Chapel in Oxford.
