Margaret Elizabeth Rice and David Pennington Kennedy were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony at 7 p.m. May 4 at Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle. The ceremony was officiated by Father Nick Adam.
The bride is the daughter of Renee Weseli Rice of Madison and Warner Alexander Rice of Jackson. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobo Faulkner Kennedy of Cullman, Ala.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a white ball gown with Chantilly lace covering the bodice and skirt complemented by a semi-cathedral train. She wore a ballet tulle cathedral-length veil and carried a bouquet of white ranunculus, cream garden roses, lilac, and blush weeping baeckea. The stems were exposed and wrapped with a piece of lace from her paternal grandmother’s wedding gown and her great grandmother’s handmade handkerchief, which was also carried by her grandmother, mother and sister in their weddings. Her something blue was a pair of earrings gifted from her mother.
Serving her sister as matron of honor was Anna Love Little. Bridesmaids were Abigail Christina Babaz, Ann Clardy Byrd, Bethell Edrington Culpepper, Molly Barron Fontenot, Mary Katherine Robertson, Mary Johnson Bradford, and McKinley Quinn Barry.
They wore a satin strapless pale-yellow, gown and carried gathered bouquets of white hydrangeas, blush tulips, pale yellow stock, pale pink roses and peonies, and white and lavender wildflowers.
The bride’s proxy was Kendall Glenda Causey. The bridegroom’s niece, Amelia Lenore Kennedy, was the flower girl.
The bridegroom’s brother, Stanley Anderson Kennedy, was best man. Groomsmen were Garrett Riley Crider, Kirk David Hardy Jr., Carter Douglas Holmes, Daniel Dwight Kennedy, William Fenton Little, Whitford Martin Mills, Ty Mitchell Powell, and Michael Spencer Thornton. Ring bearer was the bride’s nephew, Luke Morgan Little.
John Michael Atkeison, Hunter Ferguson, Thomas Glenn and Patrick Mallory served as ushers. The scriptures were read by Jamie Lewis Thornton and Mary Ivon Montgomery. Sanders Estes Miller and Hope Elizabeth Berry greeted guests as they arrived.
Nuptial music was presented by Frances Nelson, organist; Nancy Bateman, cellist; Shellie Kemp, violinist; and Debra Padula, vocalist.
The day before the wedding a bridesmaid’s luncheon was hosted at Walker’s Drive-In.
On the eve of their wedding, the bridegroom’s parents entertained with a rehearsal dinner at the Country Club of Jackson.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception for family and friends at the Mississippi Museum of Art. Groove Factor provided the music.
Following a wedding trip to Cabo San Jose, the couple resides in Jackson.
