I’m looking for a historic moderate, responsible leader of the Democrat Party. Who is leading this party—or what is left of this train wreck of a group following the crash last November 6th—which still may be overstatement? Or, is this what we are seeing rising to the surface now—the new leadership? Who is the adult in the room to take responsibility?
A London newspaper recently highlighted the fact thatsome of the 6,000 Americans who fled the U.S. applied for U.K. citizenship. Probably, they were terrified by the “ghost” stories they told themselves about President Donald Trump. Like a group of preadolescent girls at a slumber party, who one-upped each other about a coming, fearful “beast” (Trump 2.0) to frighten the group. You can’t find an adult in the room here.
The Republicans in Congress, meanwhile, want to extend the 2017 tax reforms, and the Democrats are trying to find examples of businesses that pay little or no tax. One target is Elon Musk’s Tesla. Some of his dealerships are experiencing vandalism and firebombing, not to mention actual shooting into the buildings. Tesla does get special treatment from government mandates and tax breaks that Democrats created. Democrats may holler but it’s their policies that helped to make him richer. “Don’t blame Mr. Musk because Tesla doesn’t pay taxes. He and his company are merely playing by Democratic rules.” (Wall Street Journal 3/19/25). Why do millionaires often seem to be jealous of other millionaires who get a bump? No adult in the room here.
U.S. Democrat Senator Mark Kelly, former astronaut and presumably a man of science, childishly traded his Tesla for gasoline brand, in order to make statement about Musk and maybe hurt his bottom line. Remember Musk is the man picked by Trump to lead the DOGE Department. Musk, however, has created probably the best EV (electric vehicle), which is what attracted Kelly to the brand. What is the statement? I guess it would be: Musk is now a mean guy! We can be meanies too (on the playground)! Is this what passes for adult behavior with Democrats?
Domestic terrorism has lifted its ugly head again since the summer of 2020 and the riots in the Northwest. Now it’s playing out mainly aimed at one person, Elon Musk, once the darling of the Left, his Tesla is the prime company exalted by the environment masters. Additionally, there’s vandalism against car owners. Address lists have been discovered and they are being tracked down! Governor Tim Walz, last year’s Democrat candidate for Vice President, childishly led the cheering section on a one-day decline of Tesla stock on Wall Street. Is Walz actually a sitting governor today? Wow, still no adult in the room.
Democrat congresswoman from Houston, US Representative Jasmine Crockett, is also propagating terrorism: “All I want to see happen on my birthday is for Elon to be taken down," she boasts. "I have learned, as I serve on the DOGE Oversight committee, that there is only one language that the people that are in charge understand right now, and that language is money." US Attorney General Pam Bondi has warned Crockett, a government official, to “tread lightly”—in other words, act like an adult!
What about US Senator Chuck Schumer? On NBC’s Meet the Press (3/23/25): Schumer was asked, “Do you agree, Is the US in a constitutional crisis?” “Yes, I do. Kristen, and Democracy is at risk under Donald Trump. Listen, Trump is a lawless, angry man. He thinks that judges should just listen to him. He thinks he can do whatever he wants. We have to fight that back in every single way.”
Remember Senator Schumer on the steps of the US Supreme Court building (3/4/2020): “I want to tell you, [US Supreme Court Justice] Gorsuch, I want to tell you, [Justice] Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won't know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.” Sounds angry to me. Isn’t the Democrat Minority Leader now the key public face of the Democrat Party? But he declined to be the adult above the rest of these voices.
Mark Penn, former Democrat advisor, said recently that Democrats in the 1990s stood for balanced budgets, strict immigration, expanded health care, and smaller government. Right now, their chief goal is just to be anti-Trump on every issue that comes down the pike, even if its illegal immigrants who are criminals with frightening records!
Former West Virginia Governor and US Senator Joe Manchin, and former Arizona US Senator Kirsten Sinema, both now resigned, tried to bring a measure of moderation to the Democrat Party but were hassled by other Democrats. Prior to the 2020 Presidential election, I suggested to a liberal Democrat friend in Florida that the Democrats could probably win with overlooked Manchin. I guess the neglected Manchin, however, couldn’t win the liberal “beauty pageant.”
Democratic strategist James Carville declared that the Democratic Party was "stupid" for ignoring rural American voters in the last presidential election, contending it “should apologize." It seems the Democrat Party nowadays could be called the Victim Party, whether it’s legal or illegal immigrants. That’s all they seem to stand up for. Pity.
