Members of Trinity Presbyterian Church will soon say farewell to their church, which has been in Jackson for 70 years.

RePublic Schools, which operates three nonprofit charter schools in Jackson and three in Nashville, has purchased the church’s facilities at 5301 Old Canton Road and plans to open a school there in August 2022.

An unidentified band of revelers blocked I-55 just north of Lakeland Drive over the New Year's weekend, spinning circles in their vehicles. 

Police said the incident occurred Friday night at 11 p.m. and blocked traffic for an hour. Traffic was so backed up, it prevented police from responding quickly.

Frances Anne Fortner was driving along Ridgewood Road around 1:30 p.m., when she hit a manhole cover and her car flipped, according to Precinct Four Cmdr. Keith Freeman.

The vigil will be at 7 p.m., on the school's campus.
