Amorya Orr will begin serving a three-year term in July on the Board of Commissioners, the governing body of The Mississippi Bar, representing the state At-Large. Orr is a partner in the Jackson office of Cosmich Simmons & Brown, PLLC, where she litigates in a variety of practice areas including toxic tort, product and premises liability defense, insurance coverage disputes, general contract disputes, and church litigation.
She is a member of the firm’s national trial team, having won her first multi-million-dollar plaintiff’s verdict in 2024. She is a Mid-South Super Lawyers’ Rising Star and was recently named a 2025 Rising Star by the Defense Research Institute Asbestos Medicine Seminar. Additionally, Orr has been a practicing mediator since 2014.
Orr earned an undergraduate degree from Fisk University in Nashville, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Law in Charlottesville.
She is president-elect of the Magnolia Bar Association. Orr is a member of the Junior League of Jackson, where she is the immediate past chair of the Touch A Truck Jackson® project.
