New Jackson mayor John Horhn released victory statement the following victory statement:
What an incredible moment this is for all of us. I want to begin by saying thank you to each and every one of you who believed in this vision, worked on the campaign, and stood by our side every step of the way. Thank you to our many volunteers, supporters, and everyone who made this victory possible. This moment is as much yours as it is mine. Thank you to my wife, daughter, son, and extended family for supporting me along this journey. I especially want to thank my father whose service to his fellow man and desire to make tomorrow a little bit better than today has been the driving force behind his entire life. I’d like to think that sense of service rubbed off on me throughout the years.
The road to this victory has been long and arduous, and we’ve had to run the gauntlet a few times, but it has also been a journey filled with hope, passion, and a shared vision for the future of Jackson. And now that the elections are over, we are ready to get to work.
Our city deserves better. We deserve to have thriving businesses, streets that are safe, infrastructure that works, and opportunities that uplift every single neighborhood in this great city. I stand here with you today, not just as your mayor-elect, but as a leader ready to restore trust, accountability, and transparency in our government. Together, we will create a government that listens to every part of this city and most importantly, takes action.
We will hit the ground running. We'll work together to tackle the short-term challenges within the first 100 days that face us, while simultaneously developing Jackson’s Comprehensive Plan that sets goals for 5, 10, and 15 years into the future.
To my opponents and their supporters, we want to work with you to rebuild this great city, because now is a time for unity. I hope you will join us as we begin to put in the work. Together, we will rebuild Jackson into a forward-thinking city that puts its citizens first and collaborates with our county, state and federal partners to strengthen Jackson as the Capital City of our great State. As Jackson rises, so does the entire State of Mississippi.
Thank you, Jackson. I’m ready. Let’s get to work.
