The Catholic Charities Therapeutic Foster Care community consists of foster parents and professional licensed social workers, certified mental health therapists and licensed professional counselors who address the special needs of children experiencing emotional and behavioral difficulties who cannot be cared for by their own families. All services are provided using wrap-around principles with the primary goal of achieving permanency for the children.
Catholic Charities Therapeutic Foster Care provides these children with love, guidance, nurturing and appropriately consistent discipline and support. Therapists also assist the children along the road to improve their emotional health.
Catholic Charities Therapeutic Foster Care provides community-based treatment services within a foster family environment to children ages birth to twenty-one. The children and youth served suffer from one or a combination of behavioral, psychological, medical, and/or emotional problems that interfere with their ability to function effectively in their home environment. Specifically trained foster families teach, model, and interact with youth providing normalizing experiences, which enhance levels of social and emotional functioning.
Foster care comes with challenges, but Catholic Charities helps every step of the way for those seeking to find joy in helping a child grow and learn. Foster parents take pride in knowing they are making an important difference in a child’s life. Fostering a child can bring a bountiful enrichment to the foster family. Catholic Charities supports the family by providing weekly therapy for the child, foster parent training and certification, monthly support group meetings, and monthly stipends for foster families to compensate for additional expenses. Catholic Charities is always looking for foster families.
