Catholic Charities has provided a safe haven for adults and children suffering from the trauma of domestic violence since the 1980s and is pleased to announce that after years of searching we found a perfect location for the Jackson Victim Services program. The new shelter is now open and providing services. Community volunteers of Catholic Charities, dedicated their time and efforts to make this safe haven feel very home like and welcoming. Jackson Victim Services combines programs to provide services to victims of violence which includes: domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, dating violence, human trafficking, and stalking.
The shelter includes eight bedrooms, along with a bedroom for the house manager as staff members are on-site to assist victims 24 hours a day. Additional amenities include a therapeutic group and counseling area, family room, dining room, a commercial grade kitchen, laundry room and bathing facilities to accommodate adults and children of all ages.
Jackson Victim Services is committed to breaking the cycle of violence and helping victims survive the trauma of violence. We offer supportive services to help victims recover from the violence and develop more positive relationships. The shelter is confidentially located and serves Copiah, Hinds, Rankin, Madison, Issaquena, Sharkey, Simpson, Yazoo and Warren counties.
Catholic Charities would like to sincerely thank the numerous people who have spent valuable time and energy to making our new Jackson Victim Services program a reality. We are proud to have this facility open during October as it is Domestic Violence month.
