Madison County officials have finalized and approved the 2018 road plan.
Among the large county road projects are Cherry Hill, County Line, Deerfield, Gluckstadt, Harvey’s Crossing, Highland Colony, Hoy Road, Reunion Parkway phases two and three, Sunnybrook, Tisdale and Weisenberger.
The Cherry Hill project is a reconstruction project that will cost approximately $350,000 to complete and is being funded by an $8 million bond the county supervisors approved last summer.
The status of the project is listed as purchase order issued.
The County Line Road project is a joint venture between Ridgeland and Jackson, but the county will reimburse Ridgeland once the work is done.
The project in total will cost $1.35 million, with Jackson and the county splitting the cost equally at $675,000 each.
Construction should be completed before August this year. The project includes a repair, mill, overlay and restripe of the road and upgrades to traffic signals. The Ridgeland board of aldermen awarded the project’s construction to Dickerson and Bowen.
A mill-and-overlay project grinds and removes the top two layers of asphalt with a large milling machine, then new layers are coated over the remaining tarmac.
The Deerfield reconstruction project is currently under design, and should cost approximately $700,000, with funds coming from the $8 million bond.
The Gluckstadt widening project is currently under design and will cost approximately $3 million.
Funds are coming from the road fund, a separate $15 million bond and short-term borrowing.
The Harvey’s Crossing reconstruction project for entering and exiting traffic is under design and will cost $600,000 from the $8 million bond.
The Highland Colony Parkway project is under construction in the amount of $6 million through the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
The county is committing $1.5 million to the Hoy Road project. Funds must be committed before December 31, 2019 and can be used for pre-construction costs and requirements.
County officials do not yet know what the Reunion Parkway phase two, interchange, will cost. But, some funds will come from the RAT fund, future revenue and additional borrowing. So far, officials have received the statement of qualifications for engineering services.
Reunion phase three will cost approximately $8.8 million to construct. An amount of $4.4 million will come from federal funds, $613,00 will come from the $15 million bonds, and the remaining $3.79 million will come from future revenue and additional borrowing.
The project is currently under design.
Sunnybrook Road will cost $600,000, which will come from last summer’s $8 million bond. This project is also currently under design.
The Tisdale Road project will cost a little more than $1 million, with funds also stemming from the $8 million bond. The project is currently under construction.
Last but not least, the Weisenberger Road project is under design and will cost $1.8 million, more money coming from the $8 million bond.
Many roads listed on the road plan are 50-50 split projects between the county and the cities of Madison and Ridgeland.
