Special to the Sun
“A family for every child. Support for every family.” Thousands of children are in Mississippi’s foster care system. These children need families, and families need help. To address this crisis, Sunnybrook Children’s Home is implementing Sunnybrook Cares.
This is a new program designed to recruit and train foster families, as well as provide wrap-around support services to anyone providing care to children in need. Sunnybrook Cares connects people that care for children and families in need of support.
You are invited to join the Sunnybrook Family for our second annual Champions for Children Dinner August 12, at 7 p.m. This night on the Sunnybrook campus at 222 Sunnybrook Rd. in Ridgeland will honor our house parents, as well as local foster and adoptive family heroes.
Jill Freeze of the Freeze Foundation will be the night’s guest speaker. Established in Oxford, the Freeze Foundation’s mission is to express God’s love by improving the quality of life for children in need around the world.
Since 1963, Sunnybrook has given homeless and neglected children a place to call home. As the number of children in foster care continues to grow, Sunnybrook is expanding services to provide families respite and life-changing support for those in the battle.
The second annual Champions for Children event August 12 will include a delicious meal catered by Fresh Cut Catering, artwork by the children of Sunnybrook, and a brand new vision for Sunnybrook Cares. Tickets for this event are $75 each. For more information visit www.sunnych.net for event registration.
