Magnolia Pickleball, Central Mississippi’s first dedicated indoor and outdoor pickleball facility, is now open and welcoming players of all ages and skill levels.
The club boasts three climate-controlled indoor courts, four outdoor courts, and has plans for expansion to meet the fast-growing demand. Complete with showers, lockers, a spacious viewing area, and a pro shop, Magnolia Pickleball is more than a sports facility, it’s a destination.
“We had the idea to bring pickleball to Central Mississippi about three years ago,” said co-owner Rachel Bolaños. “At that time, there was nothing like it in the area, but we knew there was a huge pickleball community here.
“We saw how popular pickleball was becoming in other cities and wanted to bring that same energy here. We also wanted to give people a place to play year-round, rain or shine.”
Pickleball has quickly become the fastest-growing sport in the country, attracting players from every age and background. Part of its appeal is accessibility, the rules are easy to learn, the game isn’t overly demanding physically, and it’s welcoming to beginners while still offering competitive challenges for advanced players.
“Pickleball is incredibly inclusive,” explained James Crosby, Magnolia Pickleball’s Director of Pickleball. “Any age, any gender and any skill level can all play together. That’s what makes it so special.”
At just 21, Crosby is already a rising star in the sport. With over a decade of experience, a professional background, and an impressive 5.3 DUPR rating, he offers both private and group lessons at the club. His reputation has drawn students from across Mississippi and beyond.
“I started playing in upstate New York when I was 11,” Crosby said. “When I moved to Mississippi, there weren’t many places to play. Now, it’s booming. This facility is a game-changer.”
Magnolia Pickleball took about a year to build from the ground up, but the vision had been in motion for much longer. With Gluckstadt’s rapid growth, Bolaños saw the perfect opportunity to create a community hub.
“Gluckstadt is booming,” she said. “There are so many new neighborhoods, businesses, and schools here, it’s the perfect spot for something like this.”
The facility operates on a membership model, offering 24/7 access with monthly plans. Drop-ins are also welcome, allowing newcomers to give the sport a try without commitment. Memberships include unlimited play, and the club hosts organized open play sessions, DUPR nights, and tournaments.
Looking ahead, Magnolia Pickleball has even more in store. Plans are underway to expand the outdoor courts and add family-friendly amenities. Next door, a new restaurant and bar is expected to open in the coming months, making the club an even greater destination for the community.
For Bolaños, Crosby, and the Magnolia Pickleball team, the mission is clear: grow the sport and build community.
“Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in America for a reason,” Bolaños said. “It’s fun, it’s social, and it’s for everybody. We’ve thought of everything here at Magnolia Pickleball, and we can’t wait for people to come experience it.”
Whether you’re a seasoned player or picking up a paddle for the first time, Gluckstadt’s newest addition is ready to welcome you.
