Mississippi’s economic story is changing. More people and organizations are choosing to invest, work together, and build something lasting from the ground up.
Across the state, we are seeing meaningful momentum in entrepreneurship, innovation, and workforce development. Events like Innovate Mississippi’s annual Accelerate Conference bring together founders, investors, educators, and community leaders who share a common goal: creating pathways for growth that start right here at home. These gatherings are more than conferences or pitch competitions — they are proof that Mississippi’s innovation ecosystem is flourishing.
At Regions Bank, we believe strong communities depend on opportunity for everyone. That belief is shared by the Regions Foundation, a nonprofit funded primarily by Regions Bank to support more prosperity across the communities we serve. Through community partnerships, the Foundation focuses on economic and community development, education and workforce readiness, and financial wellness — priorities that are deeply connected to Mississippi’s future.
I was recently honored to represent our colleagues at the Regions Foundation at the Innovate Mississippi Conference, and I’d like to share more about what Innovate Mississippi does and how it benefits all of us who call Mississippi home. There, the Alabama-based Regions Foundation announced a $100,000 grant to Innovate Mississippi to help expand support for early-stage startups across the state. That investment reflects a broader commitment to entrepreneurship as a driver of job creation and economic vibrancy. Small businesses have long been the backbone of our economy, and when founders are given access to capital, mentorship, and networks, entire communities benefit.
Economic development today looks different than it did a generation ago. While large projects and external investment still matter, lasting opportunity often begins closer to home — with people who want to start businesses, learn new skills, and build financial stability for themselves and their families. Supporting those efforts requires patience, partnership, and a long-term view.
That’s where the Regions Foundation plays an important role. Its work is not about one-time grants, but about sustained impact — helping ideas take root, scale, and succeed. Whether through support for entrepreneurial and collegiate pitch competitions, workforce initiatives, or financial education, the goal is the same: ensuring more Mississippians have access to opportunity and the tools to thrive.
Mississippi isn’t waiting anymore. The momentum is here, the collaboration is real, and the potential is significant. By continuing to invest in people, ideas, and community partnerships, we can help shape an economy that reflects the talent and determination found in communities across Jackson and beyond.
At Regions Bank, we’re proud to deliver financial insights and guidance to help people, businesses and communities succeed. And we appreciate our colleagues at the Regions Foundation for their philanthropic support that helps people excel even further while writing Mississippi’s next chapter.
