In 2025, on Tuesday November 4th, two special elections will be occurring in Jackson in the State of Mississippi Legislature's Senate District 26, the local Mississippi State Senate district now vacated by former Mississippi State Senator John Horhn, who has been elected Mayor of Jackson earlier in this year.
Horhn, who served in the State Senate from January 1993 to July of 2025, has several years of experience in the government agencies in Mississippi. He now serves, since his swearing-in on July 1 of this year, as the Mayor of Jackson and as the mayor in the most populous city in Mississippi as Jackson's mayor.
A recent election is also being held to fill the vacancy for Hinds County Coroner. A vacancy had occurred earlier in the year. The Election will be November 4th of this year.
