Now that the debt ceiling has been raised, we can all breathe a sigh of relief. But if Mississippi Senators Cindy Hyde Smith (R) and Roger Wicker (R), along with Mississippi Congressman Micheal Guest (R) had had their way; our country would have defaulted on it's debt and all irreparable hell would now be breaking loose in our economy. All because these three politicians voted "no" on raising our nation's debt limit. Considering the catastrophic damage this would have done to our nation, I truly have to wonder; ARE THEY INSANE?! Their actions were clearly not that of a rational person. They were willing to throw our entire country under the bus simply because they couldn't get their way.
Ah yes, but we all know why they really voted "no," regardless of their excuses. It is because they put their politics above the best interest of our nation. Their actions were wreckless and shameful! And one should note that all three are Republicans.
On the other hand, and regardless of party affiliation, Mississippi Congressmen Trent Kelly (R), Bennie Thompson (D), and Mike Ezell (R) all voted "yes." In doing so, they put our country first and their politics second, as they should and I applaud them for doing so!
I'm not sure if being sane is a requirement in the job description for members of congress but like the old saying goes, "with representatives like Smith, Wicker, and Guest; who needs enemies?
