The new Little Effie restaurant in The District hits a perfect note -- fancy cocktails and gourmet snacks, the perfect couples night out.
Northsider's Derek Emerson's latest restaurant is the perfect place to get great cocktails and a gourmet bite to eat, even if it does take a bite our of your credit card. Great cocktails, great service, great ambiance and exquisite food does not come cheap. If you are trying to impress, Little Effie delivers.
The whole experience feels "big city." The District itself, which sits on the western edge of LOHO, on the east side of I-55 just south of Meadowbrook Road, feels big city. Jeff Good's Sal and Mookie's has long established that location. Sal & Mookie's is the better family and friends, more casual and affordable restaurant. Little Effie is more of a fancy night out place for cocktails, couples and high end gourmet smaller plates. Perfect place for an anniversary night out with you wife and another couple.
Emerson, who recently sold iconic restaurant Walker's, has done a phenomenal job with Caet's in Ridgeland's Renaissance. So it's no surprise that Little Effie is a hit. And we even got a serve assist from Effie herself, a long time loyal Emerson colleague for whom the restaurant is named.
The million dollar question: Do Derek and Jennifer Emerson ever sleep?
