Like any agency in the country, the Ridgeland Police Department is experiencing the nationwide shortage of police officers and, as a result, is currently hiring.
“Every agency I am in contact with is dealing with manpower shortages,” Ridgeland’s Police Chief Brian Myers said.
Ridgeland is looking to hire 11 patrol officers and two animal control officers. They will begin screening applicants just after the New Year and would like to have them in-house for training by February.
“Ridgeland PD is a great place to work,” Myers said. “Our pay is highly competitive, there are many opportunities for advancement, our benefits are top notch and our equipment is well-maintained. We like to promote a family atmosphere here at RPD. Our background investigation is thorough and we strive to hire qualified applicants. We take great pride in what we do and we enjoy the support of our community.”
The annual compensation for a patrol officer is $46,000 plus benefits for certified applicants and $43,700 for those who are uncertified. For an animal control officer, the annual compensation is $31,158.40 plus benefits. Applications must be turned in by December 30. Applicants can get a paper application at the police station or apply online at https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/ridgelandms/jobs/3052225-0/patrol-officer.
