Miss Haick and Royal planning June 1 wedding at St. James Episcopal Church

Dr. and Mrs. Alexander John Haick Jr. announce the engagement of their daughter, Ellen Virginia Haick, to Lt. Edward Elliot Royal, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jerome Royal of Midnight.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mrs. Billie Jean Boggs Lea and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander John Haick Sr., all of Jackson. The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mrs. Lawrence Wilburn Long III of Jackson and the late Mr. Long, formerly of Yazoo City, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Asa Jerome Royal of Midnight.

Miss Haick was graduated from Jackson Preparatory School and the University of Virginia. At UVA, she served as vice president of Chi Omega fraternity and as a fellow at Christ Episcopal Church. Miss Haick was presented by the Debutante Club of Mississippi. She earned a juris doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Law and is completing a clerkship with the Mississippi Supreme Court.

Lt. Royal is a graduate of Manchester Academy, Hinds Community College, and Mississippi College. He received a master of commercial aviation from Delta State University and is a captain with SkyWest Airlines. A member of the United States Air Force Reserve, Lt. Royal is currently stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, piloting the C-17 Globemaster.

The couple will exchange vows June 1 at St. James’ Episcopal Church, with a reception to follow at The Cedars.
