Wade and Hudson exchange wedding vows at Crossgates church

Rachel Elizabeth Wade and Jacob Renton Hudson were united in marriage December 30 in the prayer chapel of Crossgates United Methodist Church in Brandon. The Rev. Dr. Tommy Artmann officiated the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Frank C. Wade Jr. of Flowood. She is the granddaughter of Betty Wade of Magee and the late Dr. Frank C. Wade Sr., and Helen Page of Hazlehurst and the late Ralph Page.

The bridegroom is the son of Lisa Hudson of Mandeville, La., and Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Hudson of Madison. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Renton of Andover, N.J. and Ida Hudson of Madison and the late Truman Hudson.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a designer classic gown, with sweetheart neckline, that highlighted the Alencon lace covering the bodice and trailing down the skirt. The trumpet style silhouette ended in a deep border of scalloped lace sweeping into a chapel length train. She wore a designer cut-edge cathedral length veil finished with unbeaded Alencon lace around the lower scalloped curve, complementing the lace of the gown.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of white roses, white peonies, winterberries, seeded eucalyptus and other greenery. Her jewelry included a pearl bracelet worn by her mother on her wedding day and her maternal grandmother and great-grandmother’s engagement rings, the latter ring from 1915.

Maid of honor was Sarah Wade, the bride’s sister. Bridesmaids were Alyssa Davant Johnson, Natalie Ethridge, Rebecca Gorham and Amber Robinson. Bridesman was Steven Calhoun.

Best man was Clay Ostarly. Groomsmen were Evan Armentrout, Jeff Franco, Will Huntington, and Kody Lala. Brothers of the bridegroom Ben Hudson, Eli Hudson and Caleb Hudson, were attendants.

Flower girls were Olivia Courtney, Sophia Hudson, Hollis May, and Izzy May. Cade Loftin and Cruz Wade were ring bearers.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at The Vault Venue in downtown Brandon. The couple was introduced from the balcony and made their way down a staircase to greet guests and have their first dance.

On the eve of the wedding, the Hudson family hosted a rehearsal dinner at Highland Colony Baptist Church. The day before the wedding, a bridesmaids’ brunch, hosted by cousins of the bride, was held at the Farmer’s Table at Livingston.

After a wedding trip to Ireland and Scotland, the couple is at home in New Orleans.
