“Summer in the ‘Sip” was held recently at Brown’s Fine Art & Framing. In honor of Brown’s 60th year in business, “Summer in the ‘Sip” featured a group art exhibit with new works from all of Brown’s artists, treats, and live music from the D’Lo Trio.
In 1965, Mary Grace and James Brown opened Brown’s Frame Shoppe on North State Street with a vision and three children under the age of five. What started as a small custom framing venture now is a regional art gallery.
Mary Grace was joined in the business by her daughter Allison Simmons and son Joel Brown, working side-by-side for decades. In 2020, at the age of 90, Mary Grace officially retired, along with Joel, entrusting the future to Allison and her daughter Emily Simmons Sandoval.
