The Rev. Les Hegwood is the new rector at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, but he’s no stranger to Northeast Jackson.
Hegwood grew up a stone’s throw from the church at 5400 Old Canton Road, but coming back to Jackson wasn’t the only reason Hegwood was drawn to St. Philip’s.

Young northsider builds benches for eagle scout project helping to unite families at ummc

Children’s of Mississippi patient Felton Walker delivered two handmade benches to the playground beside the Kathy and Joe Sanderson Tower at Children’s of Mississippi as his Eagle Scout project. The sturdy wooden benches will be a place where patients’ families can connect, the way Felton’s family bonded with the Scarbrough family.
