Cynthia Morse Taylor, age 90, passed away peacefully to her heavenly home on July 17, 2024. She was a resident of Peachtree City, GA. She was born in Oxford, Miss. to Annie Virden and Hugh McDonald Morse and moved to Jackson at a young age. She attended Davis Elementary School, Bailey Junior High and Central High School. She graduated from Millsaps College with a BA degree and was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She married Johnny Taylor on June 19, 1955. They returned to Mississippi in 1961 where Johnny worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and served in the Miss. National Guard.
She and Johnny lived in Mississippi most of their lives but also in Texas, California, Virginia, Georgia, Italy, and Saudi Arabia. While they were living in Virginia, they built an airplane together in their garage and flew it. After Johnny retired from the Corps, they moved to Arm, Miss. with their airplane. They purchased a historical home that was built in the 1800’s and restored to historical standards. She and Johnny both served in the Civil Air Patrol where Cynthia made Captain. They flew rescue missions and worked with cadets while serving in the Civil Air Patrol.
Cynthia was an obedient daughter, a wonderful sister, a beautiful debutante and wife, an enthusiastic member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a devoted mother, a dedicated teacher, a faithful historian, an avid reader, a contributing citizen, a successful Amway & antique business owner, a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol, a loving aunt, and a faithful friend. She had an engaging smile, a positive attitude, and was loved by all who knew her. She will be missed.
