Joseph Julius Jackson, 81, passed away August 6, 2024. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2024, with a visitation at 1:00 p.m. at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 5400 Old Canton Road in Jackson.
Joseph Julius Jackson was born in Washington, DC on July 27, 1943 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Lester Jackson.
Following a tour of duty in the United States Army, Joe attended and graduated from the American University in Washington, DC. After a distinguished career in the United States Secret Service and in the Federal Bureau of Investigation, he retired as the “Special Agent in Charge” of the state of Mississippi. In addition, Joe served in numerous local and state law enforcement agencies.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Angie; his stepdaughter, Angelisa; his son-in-law, Don Jorgenson; and sister-in-law, Janna Moore. Joe left behind a brother, Lester Jackson Jr. and wife Mary; and two cousins, Patrick Smith and Trish Carey.
Joe was preceded in death by a daughter, Allison Hughes and husband Hue; and three grandchildren, Jonah, Morgan, and Riley of Bluffington, SC.
In addition, Joe left behind a son, Kevin Jackson and wife Heidi; and fourth grandchild, Keegan of Gluckstadt, MS. Lastly, he leaves behind a fifth grandchild, Brayden of parents, Brian and Trish Barlow.
Joe will be missed dearly within the community and congregation of St Philip’s Episcopal Church. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all surviving family members and friends, who stood by Joe throughout his life and career. He would want to be remembered as the funny, intelligent, and humble man that he was, who lived life with gusto and grace.
