Mr. and Mrs. John Grady Raines of Ridgeland announce the engagement of their daughter, Suzan Kethley Raines, to Bartley Tucker Schaerer of Chattanooga.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Jerome Kethley Tharpe and the late Mr. Tharpe of Madison and Mr. and Mrs. Eustice Grady Raines of Canton. The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mary Hunter Morgart and the late Roy Maurice Crawley, and Carolyn Owens Schaerer and the late Emil Tucker Schaerer.
Miss Raines is a 2015 graduate of Jackson Academy. She attended the University of Mississippi where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science in 2019. While at Ole Miss, she was a member of Chi Omega sorority and honored as a campus “Who’s Who Among Students” for the class of 2019. She was presented by the Debutante Club of Mississippi in 2016. Dr. Raines earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy with highest honors from Emory University, Atlanta, in 2022. She is a physical therapist at Excel Therapy Services in Dalton, Ga., and Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation in Chattanooga.
Schaerer is a 2014 graduate of The Baylor School in Chattanooga. He attended the University of Mississippi where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in managerial finance in 2019. While at Ole Miss, he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He is the vice president of operations at Schaerer Contracting Company in Chattanooga.
The couple will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, October 19 at Town Hall in Rosemary Beach, followed by a reception on the Western Green. They will make their home in Chattanooga.
