Trees are down in northeast Jackson and numerous traffic lights remain out due to yesterday's violent storm system, while Entergy Mississippi crews work to restore power to customers who are without electricity.
Entergy reports about 16,350 customers in Jackson and 4,350 customers in Madison remain without electricity. Entergy saw outages across its 45-county service area, with the hardest hit areas being the tri-county area around Jackson, Bolivar County in the Delta and some areas in the southern part of the state.
More than half of the customers who lacked power yesterday have had it restored. There are 260 base load contractors, Mississippi companies that assist Entergy crews, at work and another 1,300 workers are en route to assist.
