Michael Morris, executive director of Two Museums, spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson.
"Two Museums" is the umbrella name given the Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum which are in combined space downtown on N. Jefferson Street between Mississippi and Amite.
Both museums are under Mississippi Department of Archive and History.
The museums have 20,000 artifacts of which only a few thousand are on display.
The museums also oversee several other statewide programs including Grand Village of Natchez Indians, Historic Jefferson College, Margaret Ann Crigler Park, Vicksburg Civil War Visitor Center, Wintervlle Mounds and the Windsor Center.
Currently, the Windsor Ruins columns are being reinforced so tourists can enjoy the ruins for years to come
