Great City Foundation.

At the Railroad District in downtown Jackson listening to day-long seminars about how to make Jackson a great city.

There's an amazing collection of 150 city and state leaders attending.

Here is their intro to the meeting:

The Great City Summit is bringing together leaders from across the city, state and nation to develop new ideas to accomplish shared goals, energize projects, and amplify efforts of good work in Jackson, Mississippi. The Great City Foundation will build opportunities, provide resources, and advance the future of Jackson and the state of Mississippi.

Feeding Silver City tornado victims.

Silver City, being only 250 or so residents, has not gotten the attention of much bigger Rolling Fork, but it was equally destroyed by the recent E-4 tornado. Bob Crisler, Ted Dinkins, Ron and Anna Katherine Scott and I traveled there for a day to serve 80 lunch meals and 180 meals. Northminster Baptist Church and Greg Radar provided the funding. Ted brought an awesome smoking rig from his son's Starkville restaurant, Two Brothers Smoked Meats. Everyone was so appreciative and kind. A great example of the love and kindness of the people of our state. It was great food. Ted had just come back from New Orleans where his Hog Addiction cooking team won first place (out of 160 teams for the second year in a row!) in the Ochsner's Hog for A Cause event which raised $3.5 million for the treatment of pediatric brain tumors.

Mission Mississippi celebrates 30th anniversary.

I attended an enlightening panel discussion featuring the founders of Mission Mississippi. They discussed the progress of the last 30 years and the challenges still to come. Mission Mississippi's goal of racial reconciliation through Jesus Christ has made a huge improvement in our state.

Neddie Winters, long time president, shared inspiring personal stories of faith and racial reconciliation all over our state.

They found a 30-year-old video from the first few months of Mission Mississippi. Here's Lee Paris and Dolphus Weary first encouraging Mississippians to reconcile with faith.

Another awesome service at Covenant Presbyterian.

Stephen and Carolyn Sachs continue to produce awesome music each Sunday at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Jackson. This Sunday featured the gorgeous, lush compositions of Felix Mendelssohn.
