Help me Jesus!

As we approached the end of the first day of the Jesus Trail hike, I was praying that my feet, back or legs didn't cramp. As my feet tread on a path surely walked by Jesus, I tried to imagine carrying a 100-pound cross on which I would soon be crucified. We passed through Mash'ad, where Jonah was born, to arrive at Cana, where Jesus performed his first miracle.

Three different possible ways to go. Quite confusing.

Water of Life. God provides.

I teased Jeff about bringing his water filtration device. "We might run out of water and need it if we are thirsty and find some stream." Right, I said, just happen along a stream. Well, we ran out of water and just happened to find a beautiful stream.

The son filled up the bottles as this spring bubbled up from underground. Jesus surely drank from this spring as he traveled from Nazareth to Lake Galilee.

Big new highway construction blocking Jesus Trail.

The construction foreman for the big highway project shooed us off, "dangerous," he said, barely speaking English. He didn't know anything about any Jesus Trail. But the highway construction was preventing us from continuing. We had to get across to Zippori National Park where the Jesus Trail continued. Necessity is the mother of invention and improvisation.

Oh, so that's clear as mud!

Beautiful flowers, woods along the Jesus Trail in Israel.

Once we got out of the Nazareth, everything was rural and beautiful

Very beautiful and green after the winter rainy season. One resident said it will all be dry and yellow in a month or two.

The temperature was perfect, 75 degrees.

We got lost almost immediately upon leaving Nazareth.

Fortunately we had the All Trails app, the Trailzy app, Google Maps and occasional painted orange stripes on trees and rocks. As long as we had cellular data, we were going to figure it out. We had three smartphones and three backup batteries. Even so, were were constantly getting off trail. I thought the Jesus Trail was popular and well-traveled. In fact, we saw only two other backpackers, a German couple. This was often "off the beaten path."

    Beautiful flowers everywhere.

We think some farmer was not happy about the Jesus Trail going through his pasture.
