The U.S. Department of Justice unsealed a federal indictment in April 2023 charging the WWE star for his role in allegedly misappropriating millions of dollars in federal welfare funds.
Former professional wrestler Ted DiBiase, Jr. will stand trial in Mississippi for his alleged role in the state’s largest public welfare embezzlement scheme using Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or TANF, funds totaling upwards of $77 million.
DiBiase’s is the first case to go to trial in the scheme, which was first reported nearly six years ago.

As lawmakers get down to work for the 2026 legislative session, appropriators received some welcome news Wednesday as they plan for the next state budget amid increased requests for funding.
Mississippi is now halfway through its current fiscal year and state revenue collections are thus far exceeding estimates by $164.3 million.

As I write this on 1/4/26 most news reports state that the United States has carried out a flawless military mission early yesterday to arrest the Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro in his home (aka fortress) in Caracas. Our military personnel forced their way into his house before Maduro could enter his steel walled safe room and arrested him and his wife before they could escape. The assault had been meticulously planned for months. No Americans were killed, and only one helicopter was hit but was able to continue flying. A total of about 150 aircraft were used.

Amanda Gibson of Vicksburg celebrated her Dec. 10 graduation from Hinds Community with her splashy red boots for the walk across the stage.
Gibson, 41, had been a Licensed Practical Nurse for 16 years and decided to take the next step, so to speak, to earn an Association Degree in Nursing.
“I just decided to do more. I love what I do – being able to help others when they can’t help themselves. Sometimes we’re the only people patients see,” she said.

The Yazoo Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its November 20, 2025, meeting at Ricks Memorial Library.
The members signed and wrote notes in 143 Christmas cards that were sent to the Veterans at the Mississippi Veterans Home in Kosciusko and local nursing homes in Yazoo City. A card was received from the Stamps for the Wounded Veterans Organization acknowledging the 360 U.S. Postage Stamps they received from Yazoo Chapter DAR.
