At the Patton House Art Gallery, the gallery's owner, Garry Brown, has recently hosted a traveling cooking tour that visited Jackson for a special event at the gallery last week, on Thurday, August 14.
He and two local chefs, chef Greg Glass and local chef Enrika, hosted a visiting chef, the storyteller and chef and musician Sanza, from Yeoville, South Africa, and the tour crew on his tour with him consisting of Alexei Mejouev and Maggie McCullough, both from Greensboro, North Carolina.
The two local chefs Greg Glass and Enrika, plus Sanza, Maggie McCullough, and Alexei Mejouev, and a few other people assisting the local crew, hosted the event to highlight the culture of South Africa and the food of African cuisine as prepared by Sanza and the crew.
Sanza is a renowned storyteller, musician, and chef, and he shares the culture of South Africa through his music, storytelling, and food.
In the event in Jackson, he shared with storytelling about the food and the culture of the African Continent, and shared the origins of many of his foods, and he prepared very nutritious and great quality food from ingredients local to South African and other African food cultures, and the food was cooked according to some original recipes and and recipes commonly found in the African continent. He shared the history and culture of South Africa with the visitors to the event.
Seating availability was set for 40 people, and the event cost for entry included ticketing prices of 81 dollars per person.
The culinary tour, called the Yeoville Dinner Club USA Cooking tour, featured food, and a cultural tour of the food made by Sanza and the team, followed by dessert and then music by a local band in the Jackson Area of Mississippi.
Garry Brown, a local gallery owner, has owned the Patton House Art Gallery in 2022.
