Mississippi has had several straight days of declining coronavirus cases.
As of 6 p.m., August 2, 572 cases were reported, along with eight deaths.
Sunday’s numbers represent several consecutive days of decreasing numbers, which could be a sign that the governor’s mask and social distancing mandates are working.
The total number of cases in the state has reached 61,125, with 60,147 confirmed cases and 978 probable cases, along with 1,711 COVID-19-related deaths, the Mississippi State Department of Health Reports.
Meanwhile, 2,297 cases have been reported in Madison County, along with 56 deaths, and 5,269 infections have been reported in Hinds County, along with 106 deaths.
