Alaskan born, Dr. Kelsey A. Walsh has lived all over the United States as the daughter of a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army including Georgia, California, Iowa, Kansas, Florida, and Ohio. Her family ultimately settled near Charleston, S.C., where she attended college at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in neuroscience in 2009. At W&L, Dr. Walsh was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta Honor Society and Psi Chi Psychology Honor Society.
She enrolled in medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina, graduating in 2013. It was there that she met her husband, Forrest Duncan. The two married in 2013, shortly before moving to Mississippi to begin their residencies. Forrest completed his anesthesiology residency and pediatric fellowship at UMMC in 2019 and is currently an attending physician at Children’s of Mississippi. After a seven-year residency, Dr. Walsh completed her neurosurgery training at UMMC in 2020. During her time at UMMC she was named Resident Consultant of the Year in 2016.
Dr. Walsh is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, as well as the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. She will be specializing in minimally invasive spinal surgery techniques, as well as general neurosurgery—including cranial and peripheral nerve surgery.
In her free time, Dr. Walsh enjoys reading, exercise, and painting. She and her husband love hiking and traveling the world whenever they find a chance.
She is looking forward to joining NS2 to provide comprehensive and conservative spine care to Mississippians beginning in August 2020.
