The Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi presented its 49th annual Chimneyville Craft Festival at the Waller Craft Center in Ridgeland. All exhibitors in the festival were juried members of the Mississippi Craftsmen’s Guild.
The event kicked off with the Preview Party at the craft center. The evening included booths with the members’ work, hors d’oeuvres, open bar, and live music from Bill Ellison. Attending the event were (from left) Lillian Kelly, and Phyllis Barr.

Crechale's had a full house last weekend as Northsiders say goodbye to a Jackson institution that has been in business over 70 years.
Bob Crechale's, the owner, passed away Christmas Eve after an illness. He bucked a trend by remaining in south Jackson in Highway 80 after most restaurants had moved north.

Runners from around the state and country will lace up March 21 to support the state’s only children’s hospital for the fourth annual Run the Rainbow for Children’s.
It will offer 5K, 10K, half-marathon, marathon and 50K routes, each with its own set of surprises.
Gordon Gartrell, a participant of Run the Rainbow and avid runner, looks forward to this yearly event.

William “Bill” Kain, 88, of Decatur, AL passed away on December 17, 2025 with family by his side.
Born in Truman, Arkansas, Bill was the son of Reece Allen Kain Sr and Era Johnson Kain.
After moving to Satartia, MS, he married Geraldine “Pedy” Ragland Kain. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Helen Deshonn Nichols went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Dec. 29, 2025.
Deshonn was born on Nov. 17, 1948 in Star City, Ark. to Arley V and Helen Marie Holloway. She has been a part of the Yazoo community since 1968.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arley Holloway; mother, Helen Holloway; and brother, Michael Holloway.

Mittie E. Suber, 95, of Brandon, Mississippi, Rankin County, passed away on December 29, 2025, at St. Dominic’s Health Services in Jackson, Mississippi.
She was born on October 6, 1930, in Wayne County, Mississippi, to the late Ada Covey and Vera Beatrice Robuck. Mittie was a devoted Baptist and a loving homemaker who dedicated her life to her family and faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lawrence Suber of Brandon, Mississippi.
