Smelly sewer overflow in Eastover.
My friend Nelson Create reports the following:
Dear Councilman Foote,
I am writing to alert you regarding a serious health hazard on Dogwood Drive between Meadowbrook and Twin Lake Circle. There is a sewage overflow which is draining into the neighbor's yard and the storm sewer (see photos). I do not know the origin of the leak but the property owner has desperately attempted to have it corrected to no avail. Cases have been opened by the City of Jackson and MDEQ but there has been no visible progress for months. There is a small "caution" sign posted by COJ but this area is highly trafficked by adults, children and pets. The stench is overwhelming and with every rain the contaminated run-off is working it's way into area waterways. I am concerned for the immediate neighbors but also my 83 year-old mother who lives on the same street. Sewage doesn't discriminate and it is appalling that these conditions exist anywhere in Jackson. I would appreciate your investigation into this matter and any efforts that might alleviate this danger to the community.
